Hector Lombard Officially Signs With The UFC

MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer

The last few weeks have produced some serious debate as to whether unbeaten Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard (31-2-1-1) would re-sign with the promotion, or move on to greener pastures; namely, the UFC.

A contract was recently offered by UFC brass, and given contractual stipulations Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney had the opportunity to match the UFC’s offer. That has not happened, and the heavy handed champ is now a member of the UFC’s middleweight roster.

Lombard himself announced the news via his Twitter account.

Hector has amassed an amazing 24-0-1 record over the last five years, with the lone draw coming in a tough battle with Kyle Noke at Cage Fighting Championships 1. Lombard’s career is anchored by victories over Alexander Shlemenko, Trevor Prangley, Jared Hess, Brian Ebersole and James Te Huna. He’s fallen only twice in his career; to Akihiro Gono and Gegard Mousasi, both defeats were suffered under the Pride Bushido banner.

The Cuban native is still awaiting an official UFC debut date and opponent.
